How to Open ANWR Right Now!
By Ted Gianoutsos, 2010 U.S. Senate Candidate

The heart of my campaign is to have my proposed ANRA – Alaska Natural Resources Act – legislation to open ANWR introduced in Congress now and passed during this 2010 election year. Yes, we all can do this good thing for our country right now!
The ANWR “debate” has been going on for 25 years and my wife Francoise and I have been part of it since we founded the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in 1984 and came up with the idea for the creation of a National Endowment for Wildlife (NEW) tied to the opening of ANWR to responsible oil and gas development.
We are the only couple in American history to push an entire generic wildlife act – the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Act of 1984 – through a divided Congress (Republican Senate and Democratic House) to unanimous passage with 60 co-sponsors including 22 chairmen and the leaders of both parties. That has never been done before or since. We did it because we were at the right place at the right time, gave our estate to our country and came to personify the legislation. We can do the same thing with my proposed two-trillion-dollar NEW-ANWR Alaska Natural Resources Act (ANRA) legislation - which we also personify - with help of our fellow Alaskans and Americans.
My ANRA legislation can be introduced right now by Alaska senators Lisa Murkowski and Mark Begich and Alaska representative Don Young or, for that matter, by any other member of the Senate or House who really wants to pull out all the stops to do a two-trillion-dollar good thing for our country.
My ANRA legislation should be passed as unanimously as our National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Act was passed in 1984. The Foundation has done billions of dollars of good for America and wildlife for the past 25 years. My ANRA legislation, with its creation of the National Endowment for Wildlife, can do trillions of dollars of good over the next 25-50 years for America, for Alaska, and for wildlife and wilderness.
A very small coastal plain strip of ANWR has been blocked from producing billions of barrels of American oil and trillions of cubic feet of American gas for 25 years by zealous “greenie eco’tremists” (to coin a phrase) who used ANWR to pick concerned Americans’ pockets with never-ending environmental hype.
It’s not so-called “green alternative energy” that fuels America. It’s black oil that fuels our American security, freedom, economy, and way of life. It’s black oil that has made America the number 1 power in the world and will fuel our power for the foreseeable future. Green alternative energy is just that, an alternative – a minor one! It’s black oil that runs America. The more American oil we produce, the better.
It’s time for all Americans of good will, citizens and members of Congress alike, to put aside the 25-year divisive ANWR debate, tune-out the fundraising greenie eco’tremists, and join together to open ANWR to responsible American oil and gas development with the NEW – National Endowment for Wildlife – that will do more for wildlife and wilderness than the greenie eco’tremists ever did or will ever do!
Spread the word. Get my NEW-ANWR Alaska Natural Resources Act legislation introduced NOW! Insist on its unanimous passage. End the ANWR divisiveness. Protect American wildlife and wilderness, while producing Alaskan ANWR oil and gas!
