Yes, we are running again in 2010 for ANWR and veterans!

I ran for U.S. Senate in 2004 and 2008 as a nomination petition candidate. In 2006, both Francoise and I ran as write-in candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor of Alaska. We initially announced in January of 2009 that we both would run in 2010 for senator and governor, but our family and friends convinced us that we are much more effective as a team if only one of us at a time runs. Francoise prefers that I run for U.S. Senate again as a nomination petition candidate, so we are focusing on my senate candidacy in 2010 for ANWR and veterans. We launched my 2010 U.S. Senate campaign on Veterans Day 2009.

In the past 6 years since my first senate campaign in 2004, Internet campaigning has become much easier and more effective. My main objective in 2010 senate campaign is to use the bully-pulpit of my candidacy to open ANWR. Indeed, 2010 is a super-right time for many reasons to finally open ANWR with my National Endowment for Wildlife - NEW - idea in the most beneficial way for America, for Alaska, and for wildlife. Ironically, we can open ANWR during my 1-year 2010 senate campaign working flat-out with Alaska U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, that I am running to replace, if she finally chooses to put America, Alaska, and wildlife before herself on ANWR.

There is plenty of congressional time left in 2010 to open ANWR. Francoise and I  have already done similar legislation in a few months time when we founded the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Opening ANWR with the NEW and with Lisa can be easily done in 2010. We would much rather see ANWR opened with the NEW during my senate campaign and help Lisa to get re-elected. We far prefer to stay home in beautiful Alaska and not go to stress-city Washington DC. But, if Lisa fails again in 2010 to open ANWR with us, as she has done for 8 long years since 2002, Alaskans may well elect me, or someone else, to replace her.
